Desember var dager med sol, hvor frosten lå som et teppe og små, små alver lekte mellom grenene. Desember var knitrende, kald snø under røde støvler og revespor over tjernet. Desember var kyss under mistelteinen, hugging av juletre, familie jeg er så glad i at hjertet nesten sprekker. Desember var lyden av en bitteliten jentes latter, nesen mot myk babyhud og varm kattepels.

My grandmother used to paint on white porcelain. For every Birthday & Christmas Eve my sister & I got a neatly wrapped present or box. Old wrapping-paper, newspapers & ribbons. They containd a cup, a plate, or on special occasions, both.
I got my Bambi-cup in 1983, when I was only 5. My favourite!

I still remember my great-grandfather (the serious looking man in the photograph) & great-grandmother. I remember the long white corridors, their tiny room, the walls covered with photographs. The sweet scent of lotion & the warmth. I was tiny & shy & never knew where to keep my hands, & I loved them.

Busy, busy, busy week. Late evenings & early mornings. Staring at a present from my sweet boy. We are giving eachother presents on the sundays of advent. I hardly can't wait for him to wake up. ^{(My tiny bike. Takes me wherever I need. I got it from a sweet girlfriend (who knew I would love it!). She used to ride it around when she was a little girl, but it had been living in her garage for many, many years. Poor thingy. Now it is out in the sun & rain & wind again. I adore it dearly! ♥)}

Mellow & slow day. Early up & early out. Taking photographs with cold fingers & the sun in my eyes. Just me, my camera & my tiny bike. A day off is all you need to reconnect, sometimes. A silent day. Reading books from days when I were a little girl. The books belonged to my mother & her brothers & sister. They were printed back in the 50's & are old & frail. I still remeber the stories & the pictures, & the way they made me feel & think. (to my sister, I believe you remember them too! ♥) They used to live in my grandmother's bookshelf. She used to read for me when I was staying there. Oooh, my tiny heart. I loved her. She also made up stories of her own, about a tiny ant called Petter. I wish I got her to write them down. My grandad too used to tell his own stories. They were about a cat who went around in the forest visiting animals living there. "Beste", (we still call him that) was one of my first words.

A cat & a book

My cat...
My tiny cat has been following me around the appartment all day. She "miiip"s when she gets no cuddles, kisses & no attention. Sometimes she sits in the shower, sometimes on top of a stack of books or on my kitchen bench, just "miiip"ing, desperately trying to get me to notice her. I am home alone this weekend, have been organizing & cleaning like a crazy person today. High on sweet, sweet music & caffeine! The rain is pouring down outside my windows. Will be going out later. Love the smell of wet grass & leafs, & the sound of rain dripping on my raincoat. .... Now she is falling asleep on my back. Her purring is slowly fading out.

I have been in love with books since I was a little girl. One of my favorites was (& still is) a book by Jan Deberitz, called "I Morgentåkedalen", with illustrations by Ronald Jakobsen. Both scary & wonderfully enchanting at the same time. I still have the book in my shelf, torn & frail now, after many years. It has a special place in my heart.

I have a new plan. It is divided into two, & goes a something like this. First part of plan: No more candy on weekdays. Second part of brilliant plan: Make a lunchpack every day. Ohhh, & a third part is also essential. I am not to spend all my salary on coffee (with the additional oatmealcoockie) from Laura's anymore. (I am allowed on special occations, of course. Lol.) What a sad & disturbing plan. But. It is necesarry. Something has to be done!... So, to cheer myself up, I plan to order this ohsocute lunchbox from The Little Happyshop.

I have some wonderful news to share! My dear boy has given me a trip to London for my birthday! I "celebrated" my 31st birthday on friday. I have never been to London before, & I am soooo excited about it! Being a total booknerd, I dream about visiting Foyles at Charing Cross Road & Daunt Books. Secondly, I look forward to visit the marked at Portobello Road. Third on my list is the Photographer's Gallery at Oxford Circus. & so on & so on... Oooh happy days, lalalalal!

Kalispera!!

I have had a big crush on The Greek Islands for many years. I had my first greek experience many years ago. Two of my dearest girlfriends & I had two wonderful weeks in Skiathos. Those were the days!! ♥ (Oooh, how I wish I was 18 again!!)
I fell in love with the light, the pace of life, the smells, the food, the beaches, the people ... Since then, I have been lucky in love & visited Paros, Santorini, Samos, Naxos, Crete, Serifos & Tilos. I adore the tiny islands like Serifos & Tilos, where daily life & atmosphere still is genuinely greek & wonderfully charming. My latest encounter with my Greek crush was previously mentioned Tilos. My mum, my sister & me had a relaxing week at the tiny island. Time for lots & lots of books, greek salad, walks, lazy days on the pebbled beach, mythos... Who can ask for more?

Yes, I know. spring again... I might have mentioned it before (a time or two ...lol..), but i totally adore & love this time of year! Spring, spring, spring!!! It makes me wanna sing. Oh yeah, a rhyme!! Even though I have (rather mysteriously) cought an awfull cold (oh, poor little me..) & I am sneezing & are tired & i want to sleep allthetime, I still love it! I had planned a date with my camera today, but found my book instead. Currently reading Lawrence Hill - "Somebody Knows My Name". It is such a powerful & heartbreaking book. I am addicted. My dear boy has taken a break away from ohbutitisfootballtvsunday & is bying me some chocolat & hopefully some liquorish. (read salty liquorish) hurray! A girl needs her candy. Yes, indeed.

Hope you all had a wonderful easter vacation! I had tons of plans for my almostawholeweekoffromwork, but the days went so fast... Currently drinking a lovely cup of blueberry tea with honey. My sweet, little cat is purring next to me, my boy is watching football, (what else is new.. lol..), just browsing the net for sweetness. Found an amazing photographer through Loveology.

I fell in love with his ohsowonderful interior & lifestyle photography. Truly inspirational. I adore the light, the use of subtle colors & the softness, combined with the mixture of texture & the blend of old & new interior. I want to live in his world!! Through the morning, through the night.

Today's dilemma: football or ...

Today has been a good day. It is sunday. The sun is shining. I've had a wonderful cup of tea, had my morning run, had a tiny chocolate (or to be exact, ten tiny chocolates.... lol. Yes, i am hopeless), finished reading "Coraline". No pms or other unpleasent distractions. But, there is one biiiiig problem. Everything points in the direction of a loooong football-tv-sunday-evening. What to do? What to do? When confronted with this kind of situations, I have two choices. Either, be a bitch about it, refuse to give away the precious tv-remote, freez & only answer him in onesyllablewords. (which i know totally creeps him out) Or I can be rewarded with the bestgirlfriendintheworld diploma... Since it has been a good day today, I'll choose the second option. So I'll find me a new book & cuddle up as closely as I can.

Only a few days away from easter vacation! Yeah! Looking forward to lazy days. Dates with my numerous books (lol)... my camera & my boy. Hopefully sunny days. & skiing. I love to go skiing, but I have no talent whatsoever. Even though I am a rather small & tiny girl, I look like a rhino on sticks. Not a pretty sight. But what I lack in talent & techniqe, I compensate for with wonderful enthusiasm. (well, most of the times, anyway...)

Last sunday I was out with my boy & his mother. She is a sporty woman, & I must admit I was a bit nervous about how she would percieve my totallackoftalent. A bit like humptydumpty, but eager as always, me & my skiis set out into the woods. I don't think she was allthatimpressed. "Practise makes master", as she said to me, encouraging & smiling, after I had tasted snow for the ...time. or, as I was standing slightly nervous & shaking at the top of a rather frightening slope, "just take the time you need. We'll wait for you at the bottom".... What i want to say is that we had a wonderful time! Tired & with red roses still on my cheeks, I had the best sleep that night.
